Job description


Responsible for purchasing and receiving inventory; for setting stocking levels; and for maintaining relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely receipt of product. 

  • Obtain information about products by speaking with vendors and reading brochures and trade publications
  • Negotiate pricing with vendors and determine order quantities to minimize freight costs
  • Monitor inventory levels and inventory movement, and place purchase orders to ensure appropriate levels of inventory are maintained in order to meet customer demand
  • Enter receiving information into inventory system
  • Review compiled inventory reports and enter inventory adjustments to balance as needed
  • Identify causes of issues and implement process improvement
  • Present reports and recommendations to management regarding product choices and stocking levels to promote profitability
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company‚Äôs discretion.

Education/Training Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in inventory processes, computerized inventory management, and purchasing

Physical Requirements: 

  • Standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, color determination, near acuity, speaking, listening
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must remain standing during working hours and have the ability to lift at least 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and depth perception
