Job description

Position Overview:

Responsible for design, programming, simulation and testing of automated processes and machinery, followed by creating detailed documentation (work instructions and/or operating manuals) for the finished functional project, including HMI and Robotic system identification, selection, and implementation. This role will lead process automation implementation as it relates to Advanced Manufacturing, across the entire CBB-Shelter enterprise. This role will be onsite based out of any of our Shelter Facility locations; Elizabethton, TN., Monticello, IA., Mt. Pleasant, IA., Lexington, TN., Atlanta, GA., Houston, TX. and more and will report to the Vice-President, Process Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities:     

  • Responsible for the identification and application of strategic automation technology and ongoing development of advanced manufacturing processes to increase safety, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency, across all CBB-Shelter product lines. Supports Manufacturing leadership with contractor/vendor selection and qualification
  • Leads installation of multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating various vendors/partners, engineering, and plant operations
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate Engineering Design of new (capital) and/or modified existing equipment that is intended to increase productivity, improve quality, increase yield rates, and reduce operating costs. Coordinates installation schedules to ensure that process improvement projects are completed on-time
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate training of key personnel in the operation and maintenance of newly installed automation controls, modified electrical or mechanical equipment, process instrumentation, and/or process control systems
  • Ensures that Standard Operating Procedures are in place to support production and maintenance activities. Assists the local site management with verification activities to ensure that project results are achieved in a safe manner, and plant personnel are adequately trained
  • Supports and actively participates in lean manufacturing (6S/CI) activities to support automation-based remedies to productivity, yield, and quality deficiencies
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management Systems in place at all CBB-Shelter Manufacturing facilities
  • Communicates with Operations Management (plant, safety, supply chain, etc.) across all business segments and facilities to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) and 10+ years of experience or related work experience in Industrial Process Engineering or Industrial Maintenance with an emphasis in electrical, PLC programming and Autodesk Inventor/ AutoCAD
  • Proven experience in leading successful automation projects/ teams in manufacturing environments
  • Requires frequent travel to CBB-Shelter manufacturing sites across North America
