JOB DETAILS

1st Shift: Monday-Saturday 6AM-2:30PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A Safety Ambassador works under the direction of the Site EH&S Manager to actively provide support to the Walbridge facility and is a liaison between leadership and the facility’s hourly associates to accelerate ongoing health and safety programs.

  • Effectively promote health and safety programs at the Associate level
  • Champion injury prevention programs and other newly created safety programs
  • Maintain safety records and track incident corrective actions to completion
  • Assist in incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action, post-accident drug screenings, development, and follow-up for completion of action items
  • Assist EHS Manager in developing and preparing safety training material, programs, and conduct training, including the safety orientation for all new employees
  • Guides the safety committee
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs as directed by EHS/HR Manager
  • Maintain and update Safety and Health programs/plans
  • Complete monthly safety audits and safety assessment as needed
  • Compile monthly data collection metrics as defined by EHS/Plant Manager
  • Broad understanding of the EH&S needs in the manufacturing environment, including a good understanding of plant operations and manufacturing process to help troubleshoot safety related issues
  • Displays passion and optimism, leading with a positive attitude with hourly associates
  • Leads by example each day in key areas – safety, quality, productivity, process improvement, 5S/housekeeping, and attendance by following all company policies
  • Uses reason when dealing with Associates to focus on solving conflict while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to build safety morale and group commitment to accomplish plant EH&S goals and objectives
  • Works closely with Supervisors and Team Leads in planning, decision-making, facilitating on safety related improvements at the line or work areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels in the organization
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities are essential
  • Ability to find and interpret OSHA regulations and apply them to tasks

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment is required
  • High school graduate/GED required
  • Associates Degree is preferred and/or EH&S related certifications and training
  • Must be able to attend and complete 10-Hour, 30-hour OSHA, OSHA 511 and OSHA 501
  • Must have a working knowledge of OSHA Regulations
  • Proficient with MS Office Product, CBB safety related software such as Origami
  • Available to arrive at work early and stay over to complete tasks or off shifts
  • Ability to work in varying internal temperatures
  • Ability to be on their feet more than 75% of the time, out on the plant floor
