Job description
This position will be located at the Calgary, Alberta Manufacturing Plant and it is part of the Windows Group – Ply Gem. This position reports to the QA Manager Ply Gem.
Purpose/goals:
- The key purposes of a QA Supervisor include:
- Quality Monitoring: Supervise and assess quality checks to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
- Team Leadership: Co-ordinate and guide QA technicians, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in quality processes and suggest or implement improvements.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure products or services meet industry regulations, customer expectations, and company policies.
- Problem Resolution: Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and work on corrective and preventive measures.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, quality metrics, and improvement initiatives, providing reports to management.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments (e.g., production, Design, Engineering and Service) to align quality objectives with organizational goals.
Shift: Day Shift (8Am to 4.30PM), Flexible to work in Rotating shift, PM shift based on the operational requirement – on site
- Foster a culture, including ways of working and behaviors, that is congruent with our mission, values, and success model.
- Identify and implement ways of working that make quality first a shared mindset and a way of life at CBB. Focus will be on the process, not the individual
- Ability to build strong business relationships and work collaboratively across multiple functions.
- Support the development of the Cornerstone Quality Management System and lead the execution at the factory.
- Develops and executes effective methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and training.
- Monitor the customer satisfaction and internal metrics, drive initiatives and projects to improve quality as a competitive advantage.
- Understand that speed matters and is prompt with action and information, willing to make decisions based on calculated risks, and moves issues to closure by driving teams forward.
- Understanding & executing SOP’s, FMEA’s, SPC , Control Plans , Process & Product Audits.
- To implement and maintain the quality management system
- To lead the continuous improvement process throughout the company
- To ensure that all quality related data is forward to executive management
- Guide and Lead groups in the problem-solving process
- Manage and monitor the incoming inspection process.
- Do external audits and work with suppliers to ensure they have a quality system in place.
- Meet and work with customers to ensure all issues are brought back to the production environment
- Lead and guide the quality department
Qualifications
To perform satisfactorily in this position, the employee must have Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering and should have at least 3 to 6 years of experience in Manufacturing and Quality. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Language Skills:
- English Language ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence, in addition, the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is required
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division
- Some positions may require advance mathematics
- Displays a strong ability to use data to rationally analyze and solve issues. Ability to present information to leaders, intercept and analyze data for decision making
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form a must. In addition, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation, is required
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have a high degree of concentration
- Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
- Ability to work with a diversified work force
- Ability to read different measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micrometer)
- Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
- The employee is frequently required to walk
- The employee is frequently required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; lift; climb and/or balance essential tasks
- Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Work Environment:
- The employee may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat
- The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate, and may require the use of hearing protection
- The employee will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas: hard hat, gloves, welding jacket or weld bibs, safety glasses, welding hood and earplugs
Safety Responsibilities:
- Before initiating work at Ply Gem, the employee is required to read and understand the position’s Job Safety Analysis
- The employee must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and perform tasks in a manner consistent with Ply Gem safety training, Ply Gem Employee Manual and OSHA regulations
