Position Overview

The Corporate Accounting Manager plays an integral role within the Corporate Accounting function, reporting directly to the Corporate Accounting Sr. Manager. Collaborating closely with other members of the CAO Organization, including business unit controllers, the SEC and Technical Accounting team, and other cross-functional groups, this role is primarily accountable for overseeing corporate’s day-to-day accounting functions included certain shared-service functions such as fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, intercompany transactions, and corporate allocations. This incumbent will also support key strategic and reporting initiatives of the CAO organization, as well as the monthly consolidation process, internal and external reporting, debt compliance.

It is imperative to maintain the integrity of and enhance the underlying accounting processes. The ideal candidate must possess the capability to drive substantial process improvements in a challenging environment and exhibit comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). A high level of attention to detail and the ability to drive efficiencies throughout the business unit's accounting function are essential. The individual will be responsible for safeguarding the control environment and leading an accounting organization that consistently delivers high-quality financial data to key stakeholders in a timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day accounting and control functions of the Corporate Accounting team
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, including the review of journal entries and complex reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
  • Manage accounting for warranty reserves, fixed assets, leases, insurance (general, liability, property, healthcare), pensions, and other items in coordination with business units.
  • Review and analyze variances between actual consolidated financial results and budgeted targets, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Review account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items and other issues promptly.
  • Identify and implement improvements within corporate accounting processes.
  • Assist in the coordination of monthly balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis, and review results with the Corporate Accounting Leadership Team.
  • Supports corporate accounting to drive value and improve results
  • Supports monthly close and reporting for corporate accounting
  • Resolves accounting issues per company policies
  • Strong control focus with ability to implement and upgrade
  • Works with independent accountants, corporate controller, and external reporting
  • Hires, trains, and retains skilled staff
  • Performs other assigned duties

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level accounting, controls, and financial reporting experience in a complex, global company, with leadership in a decentralized global finance function.
  • National public accounting firm experience.
  • A proven history of establishing, documenting, and implementing well-defined accounting and control procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Strong business acumen and broad experience in financial reporting. Significant experience with U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, a track record of financial due diligence and integration associated with transactions is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. Plan oriented.
  • Strong academic credentials, including a degree in accounting. A graduate decree is a plus. A CPA designation is required, with fluency in accounting and oversight.
