The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play an instrumental part in demand creation for the Commercial Roof & Wall segment in the west region. Extending the market share for MBCI within the Commercial Roof & Wall (CRW) segment will account for the largest percentage of growth over the next three years. Over time, the BDM will expand business development purview into all the Components Division and, as applicable, across the Shelter Solutions Business Unit
Scope:
- Generate $50M–$100M in annual project opportunity volume
- Collaborate with architects to create project specifications by establishing yourself as a trusted advisor
- Actively manage and qualify all inbound leads within the business unit
- Streamline lead assignment processes, implement new strategies for lead tracking, and drive conversion efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with District Managers across CRW to ensure the successful transition of specifications into revenue-generating projects.
- Analyze market data to extract insights by segment and develop targeted sales strategies within the Components business unit.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic accounts, maintaining strong relationships and driving long-term growth.
Responsibilities:
As Business Development Manager, you will collaborate with Sales and Marketing as well as other essential functions to translate the strategic opportunity into business outcomes. You will be responsible for executing and delivering the strategy for the business development team to position Cornerstone Building Brands as the market leader across multiple go-to-market channels. Use technology to establish processes and systems to prospect new Commercial Roof & Wall opportunities and secure the specifications for incremental growth, supporting spec to sale process and ultimately driving revenue. Collaboration with cross functional team members will be a critical success factor in driving a coordinated go-to-market strategy for all products.
Essential Functions:
- Drives the strategic plan to support the long-term growth of CRW through increased penetration of product specifications into future projects in the Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional sectors.
- Identifies new and emerging sectors to expand market opportunities for Components. Develops strategy and executes tactics to grow Cornerstone Building Brands’ position.
- Establish processes and best practices for data insights gathering and product positioning internally and with third-party tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Dynamics, ConstructConnect, Dodge, SpecLink, etc.
- Coordinates with Marketing to ensure product specifications are aligned to market demands and specification requirements, leads the updating of documents and collaborates with Engineering & Marketing to address any testing requirements.
- Attend Customer meetings, industry and social events
- Schedule and deliver lunch and learn presentations to offices within the assigned territory
- Serve as a customer advocate while effectively collaborating with internal, cross-functional teams, including Commercial Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Sales, and Marketing to deliver results
- Other duties as assigned – including as the portfolio evolves
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, sales, marketing, or related field is strongly preferred
- 5 or more years in sales, business development or strategic account management is ideal
- Strong knowledge and experience in technical oriented product selling.
- Ability to influence customers to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
- Strong understanding of marketing concepts and sales process to determine the most impactful product solution.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
- In person presentation skills is required
- Ability to work within Microsoft Dynamics CRM
- Remote office location is acceptable with regular travel (50%) expected to support the business and segment goals
- Ideal candidate resides in the Western US

The US average base salary for this role is $95,000-$110,000 + sales incentive + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
