SCOPE OF ROLE
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician I supports the implementation and maintenance of workplace safety and environmental programs. This role assists in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while promoting a safe and sustainable work environment. The EHS Technician I works under guidance to monitor safety practices, conduct inspections, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Inspection & Risk Identification: Support routine workplace inspections and hazard assessments to identify potential risks and unsafe conditions.
- Incident Investigation Support: Assist with incident investigations, including documenting findings and helping identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Safety Training: Help coordinate and deliver basic safety training programs, including new hire orientation and recurring safety topics.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain safety records, track basic safety metrics, and assist with report preparation.
- Environmental Support: Assist with waste management, recycling programs, and environmental compliance activities.
Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment (internship/co-op experience acceptable)
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations or workplace safety principles preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Basic understanding of OSHA safety standards and workplace safety practices
- Ability to identify hazards and recognize unsafe conditions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to follow established procedures and work under supervision
- Basic knowledge of incident reporting and documentation practices
- Ability to support safety training and engage with employees
- Willingness to learn industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and safety auditing practices
