Base Pay: $23.50 - $25.50 per hour

Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (schedule may vary)

JOB SUMMARY

The EHS Technician II supports the implementation and monitoring of environmental, health, and safety program in a manufacturing environment. This role assists with compliance activities, conducts routine inspections, supports training initiatives, and works closely with employees and supervisors to promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Quality Assurance Technician in the Extrusion department ensures that all vinyl profiles produced for window manufacturing meet strict quality standards. This role is responsible for inspecting materials and finished products, performing tests, analyzing data, and working closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. The QA Technician is critical to maintaining compliance with industry standards and supporting the company’s continuous improvement initiatives in vinyl extrusion processes.

  • Support, monitor and assist the EHS Manager and Plant team on identifying and controlling safety hazards
  • Support and enforce EHS policies as well as applicable regulatory standards
  • Participate in the incident investigation process
  • Keep records of environmental, health & safety-related workplace incidents and propose corrective actions.  Interact with Cornerstone EHS Origami software.
  • Train associates on environmental, health & safety requirements to ensure compliance with plant EHS policies as well as applicable Federal and State environmental, health & safety regulations
  • Identify safety hazards and prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action
  • Coordinate or assist with required annual occupational health exams (ex.: hearing tests) disbursement of PPE vouchers (ex.: safety footwear vouchers) if facility uses vouchers
  • Investigate and determine root cause of incidents to identify preventative safety measures for incorporation into the safety program
  • Conduct trend analysis, audits, incident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures
  • Perform periodic storm water sampling, reporting, and training if facility has a storm water permit and storm water pollution prevention plan
  • Coordinate with responsible facility personnel to consistently maintain adequate safety supplies & equipment including inventory, disbursement, ordering, expiration dates, etc.
  • Render First Aid care to associates as needed
  • Work closely with management and associates in promoting a safety awareness and hazard prevention culture
  • Perform or assist with new hire orientation, BBS and annual safety training.
  • Conduct and update Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) hazard assessments of all Production positions
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations by STOP work.
  • Ability to manage several work projects and activities under pressure with the ability to prioritize, as advised by the EHS Manager.
  • Participate in and coordinate Behavior Based Safety observation program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS Department Manager
  • Leading by example in complying with site EHS rules and other policies

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills.
  • Knowledge of general occupational environmental, health and safety aspects of manufacturing/industrial work settings.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour training
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment

Preferred

  • Secondary education (some college) is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office software (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email)
