Job Description

Core Job Duties – Inside Sales Representative

(On‑site | Hourly + Uncapped Commission | Fortify Building Solutions)

Customer Engagement & Experience

  • Serve as the first‑line, phone‑and‑counter expert for homeowners, contractors, and commercial builders—delivering a best‑in‑class buying experience for everything from backyard sheds to large steel structures.

  • Conduct proactive needs assessments, ask probing questions, and translate customer visions into viable metal‑building and component packages.

  • Provide same‑day quotes, lead‑time updates, and order‑status communications to keep projects on track and clients stress‑free.

Sales Execution & Revenue Growth

  • Drive daily sales volume by converting inbound inquiries and following up on open quotes, web leads, and lapsed accounts.

  • Upsell products—trim, gutters, insulation, fasteners, doors, and accessories—to maximize average order value and customer satisfaction.

  • Meet or exceed monthly revenue, gross‑margin, and call‑conversion targets to unlock uncapped commission potential.

Product & Technical Mastery

  • Rapidly learn Fortify’s full catalog—small custom sheds, post‑frame kits, pre‑engineered steel buildings, and every metal component in between—plus Cornerstone Building Brands’ extended lineup.

  • Interpret architectural drawings and load requirements; recommend the correct gauge, paint system, and structural options to meet code, budget, and aesthetic goals.

  • Stay current on new SKUs, pricing updates, and industry trends to keep recommendations competitive and compelling.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the estimating, drafting, and logistics teams to hand off clean, accurate orders that flow smoothly through production and delivery.

  • Coordinate with outside sales and contractor partners to support joint bids and ensure seamless customer handoffs.

  • Provide real‑time market feedback to branch leadership on pricing pressures, competitor activity, and product gaps.

Order Management & Administration

  • Enter orders, change orders, and RMAs in the ERP system with 100 % accuracy.

  • Track open jobs through fabrication and delivery, troubleshooting issues promptly to safeguard timelines and client loyalty.

  • Maintain detailed CRM notes to preserve account history and support future upsell opportunities.

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Complete initial product‑knowledge certification within 90 days.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the construction industry – familiar with basic building terminology, materials, and project workflows.

  • 2 + years of outbound sales experience or 2 + years of customer‑service experience in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Proven ability to hit call/quote targets, overcome objections, and close deals or resolve customer issues.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and basic CRM/ERP order‑entry systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable reading tape measures, simple diagrams, or installation guides.

  • Team‑first attitude, high ethical standards, and willingness to learn an expansive product catalog quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 + years of inside or outside sales experience specifically within building components or the wider construction industry.

  • Deep product knowledge of steel‑building components (purlins, girts, panels, trim, fasteners) and post‑frame building systems.

  • Familiarity with interpreting engineered drawings, load tables, and local building‑code requirements.

  • Track record of exceeding revenue or margin targets in a commission‑driven environment.

  • Proficient in advanced CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and quoting/configuration tools.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for supporting a diverse customer base.
