DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead Warehouse Associate is responsible for overseeing the daily warehouse operations and providing leadership to a small team of Distribution/Warehouse Associates. This role combines hands-on operational responsibilities with team coordination, training, and workflow oversight to ensure efficiency, safety, and accuracy. Reporting directly to the Distribution Supervisor, this role will act as the first point of contact for warehouse associates on the floor, supporting distribution leadership by monitoring performance, ensuring adherence to company policies, and driving a culture of safety and productivity.
- Lead, coach, and mentor warehouse associates to ensure high performance and accountability
- Monitor daily workflow, assign tasks, and adjust priorities as needed to meet customer demands and shipping schedules
- Provide training and guidance on safe forklift operation, SOP compliance, and equipment use
- Serve as a communication link between associates and Distribution department leadership
- Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and safety
- Pull, stage, and load orders onto truck trailers using forklifts
- Oversee and participate in both warehouse and yard operations
- Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with established SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards
- Perform and verify completion of daily equipment checks and maintenance reporting
- Support accurate inventory management and documentation to reduce errors and shipping variances
- Maintain and hold team members accountable for a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Minimum 4 years of warehouse experience, including at least 2 years of qualified forklift operation (sit-down and stand-up)
- Previous leadership, lead, or trainer experience strongly preferred
- Yard tractor or Drexel experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, and documentation
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills required for warehouse tasks
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis
