Job Description

The Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for all activities required to successfully manage the quality assurance standards and procedures of the designated facility(ies). This includes the oversight of manufacturing-related quality functions at the manufacturing location(s), the enhancement of quality functions, product and process audits, and coordination of quality events to communicate and/or enhance performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement site(s) functions at a tactical level.
  • Acts as a key contact for suppliers and customers on quality-related issues.
  • Develops and executes effective methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and training.
  • Deploy and validate approved revisions to existing methods and procedures to improve products and/or processes.
  • Participates on cross-functional teams, initiatives, and summits.
  • Leads all CTQ, prioritization quality matrix, and problem-solving modules as part of the corporate quality strategy.
  • Executes and maintains all reporting documentation for quality-related topics as required.
  • Provides support for all company-established quality and continuous improvement programs and initiatives as required.
  • Responsible for supporting initial development and subsequent maintenance of a document management system to ensure the appropriate reference, use, and completeness of process and product specifications.
  • Ensures measuring equipment calibrations are being performed and kept up with per schedule.
  • Works with suppliers striving to provide defect-free components for use in the manufacturing process.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of an auditing system of processes and products that extends beyond industry association requirements.
  • Supports the development of measurement systems and communicates results for all critical aspects related to quality at the source.
  • Ensures alignment of data collection and analysis with organizational quality objectives.
  • Develop and manage to departmental budget, communicate status, and recommends future needs.
  • Manages all lean concepts, kaizen events, and other modules as part of the Corporate Continuous Improvement strategy.
  • Facilitates and leads the continuous improvement process by identifying training needs and providing training in problem solving methodologies, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
  • Engages the leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean initiatives. This includes working with key leadership both functionally and strategically to drive overall improvements in specific areas.
  • Coordinates CI and process engineering activities in the plants.
  • Ensure that CTO and CI activities are aligned with goals for each plant and with the Regional CI Manager.
  • Provides input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to develop and deliver training.
  • Responsible for the hiring, leadership, development, coaching, evaluation, and disciplinary action of the departmental staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • The successful candidate will have at least 5+ years of manufacturing experience and at least 2 years of quality and continuous improvement experience
  • Enthusiastic about the value quality brings to the manufacturing process and passionate about keeping technical skills up to date, understanding best practices, and deploying quality systems to achieve goals and targets
  • Displays a strong ability to use data to rationally analyze and solve issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and develop staff
  • Thorough understanding of quality and continuous improvement standards and methodologies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
