Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Product Management & Pricing, the Product Manager, Windows & Doors, is responsible for the overall management of assigned product lines, including portfolio planning, lifecycle management, and coordination of day-to-day product activities. This role partners cross-functionally to execute short and long-term strategies that support business growth, profitability, and customer experience.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Support the strategic priorities of the Ply Gem brand in Calgary, AB and North Star in Ontario, including sales and marketing assessments, R&D roadmap development, NPD, ECN, portfolio health, product rationalization, special products, and long-term innovation planning.
  • Serve as the VOC for sales teams, dealers, and end customers, ensuring customer needs are reflected in product strategy and execution.
  • Conduct ongoing market and situation analysis, including industry trends, customer feedback, and competitive gap assessments to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Develop and execute a national windows and doors product strategy in partnership with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a senior cross-functional partner to sales, engineering, purchasing, marketing, manufacturing, finance, product development, and other functional teams to define, communicate, and execute short and long-term business objectives.
  • Collaborate within Stage Gate and integrated business processes to ensure disciplined execution of product initiatives.
  • Build strong working relationships with team members located across Canada and the United States, including remote and on-site teams.

Financial & Portfolio Management

  • Lead pricing and positioning strategies for new and existing products, including target costs and list prices.
  • Apply strong financial analysis skills to evaluate business cases, identify key assumptions, and develop high-level financial models to support NDP, portfolio changes, and investment decisions.
  • Drive product lines to achieve contribution margin and profitability targets.
  • Partner closely with Pricing Analysts to analyze sales performance, pricing effectiveness, and profitability.
  • Use lifecycle analysis, market research, and industry insights to maintain a balanced and financially effective product portfolio.

Execution & Reporting

  • Act as the focal point for all activities related to assigned product lines, coordinating day-to-day “run-the-business” activities.
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual product reports, business cases, and performance insights to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure production elements (e.g., samples, colour chips, packaging) are delivered on time to support product launches and ongoing sales needs.

Marketing & Sales Enablement

  • Support marketing communications strategies aligned to product, channel, and brand priorities.
  • Ensure development, maintenance, and distribution of sales enablement tools, including product literature, installation manuals, and training materials.
  • Communicate product-related updates (e.g., new products, changes, pricing updates, competitive insights) to internal and external audiences.
  • Deliver in-person and digital product training sessions as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned in support of business objectives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant business experience, including at least five (5) years of direct product management experience with accountability for portfolio performance.
  • Proven experience in product management within a hard-goods manufacturing environment, with pricing, profitability, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong experience with Stage Gate/NPD processes and Integrated Business Planning.
  • Building products industry experience required; windows and doors industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and drive timely execution of agreed-upon initiatives.
