Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Production Manager will direct, and coordinate the operations of the facility, managing daily operations and planning the use of materials and human resources to ensure quality product and timely delivery to customers.  This position is responsible for executing Lean manufacturing principles, safety and compliance with state and federal laws, production planning and budgeting, hiring, and supervising subordinates.  The result of these initiatives will contribute to the overall health and financial growth of the location.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate as active member of the branch leadership team, assisting with the creation and implementation of strategic and tactical objectives as necessary for the branch to reach goals
  • Train and execute the principles of Lean manufacturing on the plant floor including Kaizen events, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, TPM, and SMED
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train production staff.  Develop direct reports and establish career progression opportunities within the department.
  • Advise subordinate production supervisors on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, and training.  Ensure supervisors are adhering to company policy and administering practices in a fair and equitable manner
  • Strive to create an Employer of Choice atmosphere by continuously communicating, resolving issues, and developing incentives and retention strategies
  • Maintain a safe working environment as well as trained, safely working employees through constant monitoring of unsafe conditions and behaviors
  • Establish realistic and challenging production rates and communicate to operators.  Operate within the NetSuite system to complete all daily and monthly production reporting
  • Maintain and ensure a routine preventive maintenance plan for all equipment
  • Create production shifts that optimally utilize labor and capacity.   Respond to seasonality issues by adjusting human resources or shifts accordingly
  • Monitor daily production performance in relation to company established KPIs and report results to production personnel via visual boards
  • Review methods, processes, cost, labor, and machine utilization and recommend more efficient and economical methods and techniques
  • Maintain sufficient levels of all manufacturing and shipping supplies
  • Participate in new hire orientation, approve hours worked on timecards, initiate compensation changes
  • Fill in for staffing; learn machines, mills, and how they are ran.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field or seven or more years equivalent experience. 
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing
  • 5 years minimum in a management/supervisory role in a high output, multi-shift production environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and employment law

Additional Information

The US average base salary for this role is $70,000-$100,000 + sales incentive + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
