Job Description

Overview: As a Sample Maker specializing in stone, you will play a pivotal role in creating prototypes and samples of stone-based products for various purposes, including client presentations, quality testing, and production optimization. Your expertise in working with different types of stone and your attention to detail will contribute significantly to the success of our product development and manufacturing processes.

Working schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Material Selection: Source and select appropriate types of stone based on project requirements, ensuring quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal
  • Cutting and Shaping: Utilize cutting-edge machinery and tools to cut, shape, and sculpt stone materials accurately and efficiently, maintaining high precision and consistency
  • Finishing and Polishing: Apply finishing touches to stone surfaces, including polishing, grinding, and sealing, to achieve desired texture, appearance, and durability
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished samples for defects, imperfections, and inconsistencies, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of sample specifications, production processes, and quality assessments to facilitate documentation and traceability
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and production, to address feedback, iterate on designs, and optimize sample production processes
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when operating machinery and handling stone materials, ensuring a safe and secure working environment
  • Prototype Development: Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product development teams to create prototypes and samples of stone-based products according to specifications and requirements

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in stone fabrication, sample making, or a related field, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise and craftsmanship
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of different types of stone, including granite, marble, limestone, and quartz, along with proficiency in stone fabrication techniques and processes
  • Skills: Proficiency in operating stone-cutting machinery, such as saws, routers, and polishers, as well as hand tools commonly used in stone fabrication. Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity are essential
  • Creativity: Ability to interpret design specifications and translate them into tangible stone prototypes, demonstrating creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with cross-functional teams, interpret technical drawings, and convey ideas and feedback clearly.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, design iterations, and production constraints, while maintaining a high level of quality and craftsmanship
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required. Additional certifications or training in stone fabrication, such as apprenticeships or vocational courses, are advantageous

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust
  • Work involves exposure to high voltage equipment and rapidly moving machinery

Safety:

  • Safe work performance is required from each associate at all times
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities safely in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals
  • Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions
  • Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
