Position Overview
The primary purpose of the EHS Analyst is to provide leadership and direction to ensure that the assigned location(s) and employee populations are knowledgeable and compliant in the applicable areas of Environmental, Health & Safety. This position will champion projects and activities to achieve location and company goals & objectives.
The EHS Specialist is responsible for promoting partnership with all departments in ensuring compliance with Cornerstone Building Brands standards and applicable EHS legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with management to lead impactful change initiatives and drive safety culture by implementing proactive process improvements and providing support across assigned locations.
- Provides expert knowledge and guidance to foster a positive health and safety culture and effectively manage occupational risks.
- Manages the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of local environmental, health and safety (EH&S) policies, procedures, and safe work instructions ensuring compliance with local and corporate requirements.
- Develops, arranges, implements and/or conducts EHS training necessary to maintain EHS regulatory compliance for the location(s) and/or organization.
- Implements standardized, actionable, safety metrics and communication protocol to leadership teams to drive safety improvement.
- Conducts routine site reviews with the leadership team to define site-specific EH&S goals, and tracks progress.
- Supports the investigation of all EH&S related incidents ensuring all risk reduction, and corrective/preventive actions are identified and completed in a timely manner.
- Develops effective reporting tools and frameworks to monitor incident investigation reports, recommendations, findings, and mitigations, ensuring these elements are tracked and evaluated.
- Facilitates the return to work of injured workers and assists in the management of workers compensation claims.
- Monitors and communicates regulatory changes to the organization, recommending changes to result in compliance, and provides technical support when needed.
- Assists with external audits and ensures the implementation of corrective actions for compliance
- Collaborates with provincial regulatory authorities to address and resolve any compliance or practice violations.
- Acts as the subject matter expert for the Joint Health and Safety Committee and supports the functioning of the committee.
- 3+ years of occupational health and safety experience preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field (preferred);
- Proven experience in health and safety management.
- Strong knowledge of applicable Environmental and Health and Safety regulatory requirements.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation an asset
- The National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO®) and other professionally recognized certifications in the safety, risk management related field are highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership and team building skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
Compensation: $65,000-85,000
