Job Description

The Sr Engineering Technical Services Tech is responsible for developing and continuously improving maintenance procedures and protocols, providing maintenance support, coordinate spare parts listing, training local support teams, and aid in advanced troubleshooting of all laser systems used in our manufacturing processes. This role ensures optimal performance and uptime of laser equipment for cutting and marking of steel materials while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continuously improve safety compliance and operational protocols during all service and installation activities.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, installation, configuration, and testing of hardware and software systems for all Shelter Facilities.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership to ensure satisfaction and successful operation of installed or repaired systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with laser systems and all associated components to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve escalated technical issues promptly.
  • Train Maintenance teams on proper use and maintenance of installed equipment and software tools.
  • Create detailed documentation, service reports and spare parts program for each facility.
  • Identify and propose improvements to processes, workflows, and technology implementation strategies.
  • Assist in system upgrades, patch management, and infrastructure maintenance planning.
  • Support field operations by mentoring junior engineers and assisting team members as needed.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Set up laser parameters based on material specifications and job requirements.
  • Maintain detailed logs of machine performance, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve laser processes and uptime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Train other ETS technicians, plant maintenance staff, junior technicians, and machine operators as needed related to preventative maintenance requirements and critical laser functions to align with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in field service engineering, systems integration, or technical support with laser systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hardware and software systems, including server and storage infrastructure. (CAD/CAM software is a plus.)
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance procedures in technical fieldwork.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with system documentation, project reporting, and customer training.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in high-pressure environments.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in Laser Technology, Electronics, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience operating industrial laser systems (e.g., CO₂, fiber, Nd:YAG).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to travel within the US and Mexico frequently.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and laser radiation.
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
