Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for creating and driving strategic sourcing projects for a group of spend categories with enterprise-wide responsibilities. This person will collaborate with multiple Business Units and Functional leadership to secure optimal contracted engagements for Cornerstone Building Brands.

This leadership position will interface with VPs up to C-suite of the company, to align internal customer needs with marketplace opportunities to optimize costs and benefits. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will also assist in driving continuous improvement of related processes throughout Cornerstone Building Brands. This role is expected to provide expertise to business leaders in planning and implementing supply chain strategies to achieve business goals and objectives. The position will be within Cornerstone’s Strategic Sourcing Team and responsible for roughly $60 Million in annual spend.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead creation and implementation of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned categories of spend, manage the development of RFx materials, detailed analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities, negotiations and supplier selection. Given its leadership role, this position will also perform player/coach for staff to produce the same results for their respective areas (Level II and III).
  • First time managers should be provided LMS supported coursework on being a new manager
  • Ongoing management training for people leaders
  • Leverage key metrics to identify problem areas and adopt current and emerging business models with an entrepreneurial mindset and creative approach to drive best practice.
  • Lead and coach project teams to strategically partner with business unit and functional leaders by providing subject matter expertise and strategic partnering for contracting opportunities. Counsel internal leaders regarding processes, technology capabilities and policies to assist in the category management lifecycle.
  • Build and manage relationships with business executives, serves as a key member of the business unit leadership team to support implementation of business strategies through team alignment, facilitate a sourcing process to coordinate those goals, and closely collaborate with teams to negotiate, contract, and award business to suppliers.
  • Demonstrates a strategic business mindset, organizational savvy, presents an executive-level presence, and balances multiple stakeholder interests simultaneously.
  • Create, drive and mentor Cornerstone in long-term strategic planning efforts for assigned sourcing categories including advanced multi-year category strategies designed to anticipate enterprise-wide requirements while optimizing forecasted shifts in both supply markets, industry trends and supplier economic cycles.

  • Lead the development and negotiation of contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing contracts to accomplish lowest total system cost, improve the services offerings, and evolve the function.
    •  Complete ISM negotiation
  • Conduct category spend analyses and reporting, supplier stratification, supply market and category industry research as well as perform player/coach for staff to produce the same results for their respective areas.
  • Provide oversight and evaluate ethical procurement practices of contracted services and goods which includes compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations
  • Provide guidance on assigned activities and ensure follow-through across a broad group in project teams. Evaluate performance and provide guidance and/or recognition.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preference in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Would consider related experience in lieu of degree
  • 10+ years of business experience required, 8 of which requires experience in Strategic Sourcing.
  • Superior communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Requires advanced customer service skills.
  • Requires expertise in operating Microsoft Office programs.
  • Requires the ability to lead a team and present and project a positive company image with vendors.
  • Certifications preferred but not required: CPSM, PMP, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Must be able to analyze data and prepare appropriate Sourced vendor contracts, goods and services evaluations.
  • Uses vast knowledge of industry and market trends to develop and champion long-term strategies.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively persuade others to listen, commit, and act on a new approach.
  • Strategic mindset with excellent executive presence and organizational savvy.
  • Self-confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner.
  • Manages change, ambiguity, complexity and drives for results.
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effectively presents complex topics in a concise manner to audiences at various levels and in various sizes.

Additional Information

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$120,000 + bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
