North Star Windows & Doors is excited to welcome new and returning students to join our Production Team for the summer! We are offering full‑time, contract positions throughout the summer months, providing hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Contract Details
- Contract duration: May – August 21
- Starting rate: $22.25/hour (Increase: $22.50/hour after 3 months)
- Afternoon shift premium: +$1.00/hour
- Hours: 40–48 hours per week
- Overtime: Paid after 42 hours
- Vacation pay – 4% paid out on each cheque
- Schedule- two‑week rotating shift schedule
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 3:45 PM – 1:15 AM
- Overtime & Saturday shifts: May be required based on business needs
🏭 Job Description
As a Summer Student Production Associate, you will support daily production and manufacturing operations, working collaboratively to meet quality, safety, and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assemble, fabricate, and inspect windows and doors to meet quality standards and specifications
- Review work orders and prepare materials for production
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, pneumatic tools, welding equipment, and automated machinery
- Inspect finished products and report defects or quality concerns
- Prepare products for shipment, including packing, labeling, and loading
- Participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute ideas to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
- Support production goals and team performance targets
- Follow leadership direction and verify quality through measurement
- Adhere strictly to safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Work respectfully and collaboratively as part of a team
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program
- Available to work full‑time for the entire contract period
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
- Comfortable working in a physically active production environment
- Previous experience in general labour, construction, or manufacturing is preferred
- Willing to learn, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Able to stand for a full shift
- Comfortable working in a physically active, safety sensitive production environment; able to lift and maneuver products (30–50 lbs, medium to heavy lifting)
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
- Manual dexterity and comfort handling materials
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Safety‑conscious and detail‑oriented
- 18 years of age or older and eligible to work in Canada
- Must be available for two‑week rotating shifts
