DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shift Dispatcher is responsible for serving as an on-shift leader for Distribution operations. Provides direction, coordination, and accountability for the Warehouse Associates. The role is responsible for being a proponent of safe work practices, quality, execution, and productivity while supporting on-time shipment performance. The Shift Dispatcher is a role model for the Company’s Core Values of Safety, Integrity, and Inclusion, ensuring team members are supported, engaged, and held to high standards.
- Lead and coordinate daily Distribution operations for the shift, ensuring staffing, workload planning, and execution align with business needs
- Assign daily work activities and provide clear expectations, coaching, mentoring, guidance, and real-time feedback to Warehouse Associates
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact between Distribution, Production, Operations, Logistics, and Maintenance to ensure efficient material flow and uninterrupted operations
- Drive consistent execution of daily shipping schedules and on-time delivery commitments through effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
- This includes but is not limited to:
- Communicate regularly with customer service to ensure accuracy of all orders
- Ensure timely shipment of product through careful coordination of orders and workloads
- Responsible for accurate and timely data entry on all outgoing shipments
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate directly with a customer when necessary
- Champion Safety Culture through:
- Leading shift safety meetings and job safety discussions
- Ensuring all team members are properly trained and compliant with safety procedures
- Enforcing safety rules consistently with equal accountability
- Partnering with Department Leadership to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement
- Ensuring Shift Accountability for meeting targeted Safety Performance goals
- Actively participating in all Plant Safety Programs and Initiatives
- Foster an inclusive work environment built on Integrity and Inclusion
- Ensuring that team members are treated with respect, feel valued, that expectations are clear, and that feedback is constructive
- Develop, train, and mentor team members to strengthen skills, ensure engagement, assist with career growth, and operational readiness
- Monitor performance metrics and provide accurate data and observations to leadership to support informed decision-making
- Work with the plant on the readiness of shortages
- Track and monitor QA hold, including all items that are audited and pulled from warehouse inventory
- Communicate shortages and missed orders, including LTL’s, to customer service immediately
- Accurately complete bills of lading and all paperwork for outbound and inbound loads, and call truck lines for appointments
- Responsible for accurate and timely data entry on all outgoing shipments
- Perform inventory checks on products to ensure correct inventory levels and cycle count
- Ensure all trucks are loaded accurately and safely
- Utilize Company systems, software, and programs for documentation, reporting, and communication to perform job duties, including but not limited to: JDE Shipping, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- High School Graduate/G.E.D. preferred but not required
- Six months’ experience as a Warehouse Associate 4- or six-months’ related experience preferred
- Must possess a thorough understanding of the Company's distribution process and procedure
- Must be able to operate a multi-directional forklift safely
- All required Personal Protective Equipment must be utilized as instructed, this includes but is not limited to, Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection.
- Safely perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals
- Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions
- Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
- Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each Associate’s performance appraisal
- Role requires one of the following to obtain a Company motorized equipment license: an active driver’s License or pass a physical/visual exam at the Company provider
- Must have good eye/hand coordination, excellent manual dexterity, including a skill to use hand and electrical tools, and an ability to read and comprehend numbers
- Must be able to lift 86 lbs. individually and lift 87 to 100 lbs. with assistance
- Must be detail-oriented, possess good communication skills, and interact well with others
- Must be able to separate products by profiling color
- Warehouse environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust
- Position requires continual lifting, twisting and bending
